AE Lecture

Abstract Expressionism

Jackson Pollock (Jack the Dripper) – Made huge paintings by dripping or flinging paint. Started AE and was one of the most famous of his era. Started the idea of getting fame because of art.

Cy Twombly – Also very famous. Went back to the roots of Pollock and instead used juvenile marks. We were shown images of him also using long sticks to make lines and colors.

Tom Wolfe writes about the art world using fun and humor in his book “The Painted Word”. When I read the part of the book I enjoyed the sense and style of writing he used to describe the art world.

Andy Warhol is a famous pop artist and did crazy off the wall things. One video we watched in class was of him eating a hamburger. Which actually makes me hungry right now. I’m going to go get one.

Gender Identity

So many images flying around my head about the object of my fascination...

The Whole

 Stay in the line!

When things finally take shape...

Life can be colorful.

On the surface we all have texture.

The depth of your thoughts...

Don't make me repeat myself! Just listen to the rythm...

Teetering like an unbalanced mind.

She brought her drama to light...

Do you know that that looks like???

I can see though you.

I can't see past your beautiful face.

The fish I caught was HUGEEEEE! Quit exaggerating...

What is that? It looks so abstract...

I like to move it move it!
